Constructing a functional cleanroom envelope requires significant care that becomes more difficult with every device that penetrates the room surfaces. Lighting is just one of those penetrations that must be properly selected and installed. Improper lighting selection or installation will surely cause troubles that can result in dire consequences. This course will provide a framework for fixture feature selection and installation and clear directions about how to avoid common mistakes that delay or interfere with the success of your next cleanroom project.

  • Understand the challenge of eliminating contamination and the reasons industries use different types of cleanrooms to meet their unique concerns, including cleanroom classifications such as ISO 14644-1 and EU-GMP
  • Recognize by what method the cleanroom envelope protects the process.
  • Know how lighting fixture selection, ratings and installation impacts cleanroom effectiveness and cleanliness.
  • Distinguish the major styles of common cleanroom lighting fixtures and their feature’s value in building and maintaining a cleanroom class, grade or rating.
  • Understand how to adapt the lighting system to address physiological visual deficiencies to improve acuity, reduce eye strain and fatigue to provide better working environments.
